An exploration of the risks we take as humans and the culture of safety we create at home and at work.
Hosted by Lindsay Polic, a certified safety professional for more
than 20 years, The Safety Gambit invites you to take a more curious and holistic approach to transforming the culture of safety in your life, including bringing awareness to the impact of our safety decisions, the safety of workplaces, the emotional and physical safety of our spaces, and the philosophy of safety.
Community.
Think about the people and relationships you have in your life -Family, Co-workers, Friends. These all influence the reasons we take the risks we do. How is the communication with those people? Are you and those you work with invested in the company or same mission?
Education/Skills.
How we prepare for the jobs we do in life has an impact on our performance and our overall risk taking, in and outside of the workplace. Do you have the skills, experience or education to do the tasks assigned to you? Are you utilizing your gifts and talents?
Environment.
Our outside world affects our inside world. Slight physical changes (for example, adding a plant, changing pictures, having the right safety measures in place), will change your mental state while in that space. This could be your physical office space, workplace, or home. It could be the city you live in, or where you spend your time outdoors.
Well-Being.
Work-life balance is not attainable. Work-life integration is reality. Evaluate your mental well-being from your career to exercise, food to finances. All aspects of lives impact our mental health and overall mindset.
Lindsay and other like-hearted experts will ask questions like:
What is your personal risk tolerance?
Why do companies take risks to short cut regulatory safety obligations?
What is the cost of the humans doing the work?
Why do humans take risks to short cut safety outside of the workplace?
We connect, educate, and empower you to enact change and create transformation around
safety for your family, communities, and workplaces.
Episodes will be bi-weekly on Thursdays
